Mission U Athletics Adds To It’s Growing List Of Programs

Mission U enjoyed a rich heritage of competitive athletic programs through the 70s and 80s. This heritage included baseball until the Spring of 1985.  Since then baseball has not been a campus sport, but that is about to change. Under the direction of Mission U’s new Athletic Director, Darin Meinders, the college is expanding its athletic programs and reviving  baseball for fall 2021.

This fall Mission U will play NCCAA baseball, lead by coach Randy Merryman.

Randy Merryman, a long time area baseball coach, has a 25 year coaching career with stops at Central Methodist University, Three Rivers Community College, and Republic High School. Merryman is most known for creating of one of the nation’s most successful baseball academies. He and Justin Anderson co-founded the Midwest Nationals in the summer of 2001. Since then Merryman has helped over 700 local athletes earn college baseball scholarships and has had 93 former players selected in the MLB draft.

Merryman is excited for this new challenge and ready to lead the Patriots back onto the diamond. He says, “It’s an honor to be able to share the Gospel with young men and help them succeed on the ball field”.

Recruiting for the team will begin immediately. If you have interest in playing baseball at Mission U contact coach Randy Merryman at rmerryman@mission.edu.
