Mission University Institutional Scholarships

The selection of scholarship recipients will follow the Mission University policy of nondiscrimination as outlined in the Student Handbook. Mission University does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, disability, age, veteran status, or any other protected legal status in admissions, employment, housing, educational programs, or activities. We comply with federal non-discrimination laws (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VI and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975). As a religious institution, the College is exempted from certain provisions. It retains the right to make legitimate employment, admission, and educational decisions based on religious tenets consistent with applicable laws (Title IX statute, 1st Amendment, and Religious Freedom Restoration Act). 

A valid FAFSA must be on file for each year before the FAFSA deadline before an account will be awarded any federal, state, or institutional aid. If selected for the verification process, you must have completed the process and have a verified FAFSA on file before being awarded financial aid. Mission University’s FAFSA code is 013208

-Mission University reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of any scholarship at any time at its discretion and suspend or terminate any scholarships. 

-Scholarships for on-campus degree programs may not be applied to online degree programs. 

*Note: The Early Completion Award, Mission University Freshman Guarantee, Transfer Scholarship, Student Leadership & Ministry Family scholarships are for prospective first-time resident students to Mission University only. Current students who did not receive these scholarships upon arrival at Mission University are not eligible. 

*General Requirements and Guidelines 

  • Students must seek a degree from Mission University to be eligible for scholarships.
  • To be considered for Mission University Scholarships, students must complete the FAFSA annually.
  • Upon acceptance of Mission University Scholarships, the student must sign the required documents, including the Financial Aid Offer, Payment Plan, and the Intent to Enroll form, along with a paid deposit of $250.00 before the set deadline to be eligible to receive this award.
  • Incoming students must be admitted to the College by August 1 to be eligible for renewable scholarships. Scholarships may be awarded after August 1 if funding is available.
  • The College determines the number of scholarships awarded annually. All awards are contingent upon the availability of funds. When the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of scholarships to be awarded, recipients will be selected on a competitive basis at the discretion of the College.

Enrollment Requirements and Guidelines 

  • Unless noted in the scholarship description, institutional scholarships are awarded only to students enrolled in twelve or more credit hours per semester at Mission University.

Early Completion Award

The Early Completion Award is $500 and designed to encourage prospective students to attend a campus tour and complete the application and enrollment process early.

  1. Prospective students must complete the following admissions steps by February 1 of the year in which they intend to enroll as a student at Mission University
  2. Complete and submit an application with a character reference.
  3. Complete and submit the FAFSA with Mission University.
  4. First-time freshmen must provide us with their official, current high school transcript. Transfer students must provide us with their official, final high school transcript and their official current college transcript.
  5. The student must sign all required documents, including the Financial Aid Offer, Payment Plan, Intent to Enroll form, and pay the $250 deposit, before the set deadline in order to receive this award. 

Campus Visit Award

The Campus Visit Award is awarded as an incentive to prospective students to complete an official visit to the MU campus. 

  1. The Campus Visit Award is a one-time scholarship for prospective students only. Current students who did not receive this scholarship upon arrival at Mission University are not eligible. Prospective students who complete an official visit by June 1 will qualify for the $250 award.
  2. The student must sign all required documents, including the Financial Aid Offer, Payment Plan, Intent to Enroll form, and pay the $250 deposit, before the set deadline in order to receive this award. 

Legacy Scholarship

The Legacy Scholarship is a one-time $500 scholarship as an incentive for prospective students who are the dependents of Mission University graduates.

Church Partnership Award

The Church Partnership Scholarship is awarded as an incentive for prospective students who are members of partnering churches to attend Mission University. This award is $1,000 per academic year (up to $500 per semester) and is renewable annually for up to four years if all qualifications are met.

The prospective student must be a member of a church that currently supports Mission University financially.

A supporting church who supports financially at a minimum of $500 per student annually may select more than one (1) of their students to receive the Student Leadership Scholarship annually.

Ministry Family Award

This two-tiered scholarship is for dependents of full-time ministry staff and/or missionaries who attend a church that financially supports Mission University. Current and continued church membership/affiliation, employment, missionary status, and church support is verified by the Finance Office annually. This award cannot be combined with the Student Leadership Scholarship. Total combined awards cannot exceed the allowable maximum annual award. 

The Ministry Family Scholarship is an award designed to encourage a prospective ministry student who is the dependent of full-time ministry staff and/or missionaries to enroll at Mission University. 

  1. TIER 2. Any prospective student who is the dependent of full-time ministry staff and/or missionaries may receive a $4,000 scholarship that will be applied in equal amounts to the student’s account over the course of 8 semesters. 
  2. TEIR 1. Prospective student who are members of a church that financially supports Mission University in any amount and is the dependent of full-time ministry staff and/or missionaries may receive a $8,000 scholarship that will be applied in equal amounts to the student’s account over the course of 8 semesters. 

    Mission University Freshman MERIT Scholarship

    This award is calculated based upon the high school GPA of prospective first-time freshmen students. This scholarship automatically renews each year as long as the student remains enrolled full-time and maintains good academic standing. Please see the chart below for more information on how to calculate this scholarship. 

    Mission University Transfer MERIT Scholarship

    This award is calculated based on the prospective student’s cumulative college GPA and the completion of an accredited associate’s degree. This scholarship automatically renews for up to 6 academic semesters as long as the student remains enrolled full-time and maintains good academic standing. The MU Transfer Merit Scholarship is an award designed as an incentive for prospective transfer students who meet the minimum qualifications to attend Mission University. 

    Additional funds can be awarded by transferring an earned associate’s degree from your former institution. Transfer students with less than 30 college credit hours will be awarded scholarships based on Mission University Freshman Merit Scholarship eligibility.
