Student Spotlight

Aubrey Gleason (Class of 2019)

Aubrey Gleason (Class of 2019)

“I spent five years sitting in classes where we learned about the Bible in a deep and thought-provoking way. I learned more about the Bible in those 5 years than I did growing up in church for 18! We learned about the Bible in such a way so that we could help others through every pressure-filled circumstance that occurs. The Bible is sufficient for all of life, specifically through trials and tribulations. We were able to sit in class, study the Bible, and learn how to push and encourage ourselves and others towards Christlikeness. My degree has prepared me not only for my present job at Midway Church, but also for everyday conversations with friends, family, and strangers! Yes, it is difficult, like any other degree, with a lot of studying and writing papers, but when you’re doing all of that not only for your future job, but you’re working towards growing in Christlikeness and pushing others to do the same, it is worth it. I am not the person I was when I was a freshman. God grew me through all of those hours of learning, then applying those truths to my own life, and then teaching them to others. After my first counseling class with Dr. Carson, I knew that was the degree I wanted to pursue. I wanted to help people through the difficulties of life, and use Scripture to do that. I was excited about learning how to push and encourage others to become more like Christ and didn’t even realize at the time how much I would grow and be encouraged myself.”

“Biblical counseling has allowed me to become more knowledgeable in God’s word and in application. Therefore, allowing me to have a more intimate relationship with the Lord and others around me. I picked this program because I wanted to learn more about what the Bible says about sin issues and so that I may use that knowledge to counsel others through life. The idea of God using me to help others with their struggles in life is super exciting.”
