Julie Beck

Department Head

"I was blessed to have two Christian parents, Hilly and Nadine Beck, who directed my life towards serving God. My parents sent me to a Christian school, so I developed a passion for service at a young age.

I attended Mission University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Master of Education degree at Drury University. My education prepared me to accomplish my goal of service to God through a teaching ministry. I have been a professor at Mission University for over 30 years.

I wanted to live consistent with the Biblical principle, “to whom much is given, much is required.” Luke 12:48. I also wanted to reflect the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 who worked with her hands, bought a vineyard, made clothing, and took care of the needs of her family. She was not idle, but rather invested her talents to serve.

My professional interests and skills include technology, finance, banking, and business, which I continue to develop and use while serving as the Chair of Professional Studies, and as Department Chair to the Business Department at Mission University. Other professional responsibilities include Chair of the Curriculum Committee, member of the Budget Committee, and member of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee.

The best part of my job is helping students! The Business graduates are/have been employed in many fields such as, banking, finance, accounting, insurance and church work. The successful service of my students is very rewarding and motivates me to continue improving the effectiveness of the Business Department at Mission U!

"A degree in Business Management is helping me move forward in my job; gaining new responsibilities and opportunities. I love that the professional studies degrees at Mission U come with a degree in Bible as well. While a Business Management degree will help with my job, a Bible degree will help me with work, ministry, and life in general. I transferred in to Mission U after attending 3 other colleges pursuing the same degree. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do as far as a career, so Business Management was a good overall degree. I’m so glad that Mission U offered Business Management because I have loved my experience here more than any other school I attended."

“A business degree at Mission U is different. It provides the same education you would get at a public university and it gives a Biblical foundation. I chose to study business because God can use a business degree for most anything. I was just faithful in deciding to come to the school.”
